The Dutch government has committed €110 million ($127 million) to a joint program with Ukraine to produce deep-strike drones, backing Kyiv’s ability to sustain and expand long-range strike capabilities. The funding is part of a broader effort to industrialize Ukrainian defense production inside NATO states, improving resilience and integration with Western supply chains.

This investment sits under the Build with Ukraine initiative, which encourages Ukrainian firms to set up production lines on allied territory — a move intended to protect critical manufacturing from Russian strikes while speeding transfer of technology, standards, and logistics into NATO networks. Dutch officials say the project will accelerate drone production and tighten operational cooperation between Dutch and Ukrainian defense industries.

As an example of the initiative’s approach, Ukrainian firm Fire Point is already producing solid rocket fuel for its Flamingo long-range cruise missile in Denmark, demonstrating how dispersed manufacturing can safeguard output while linking Ukrainian programs more closely with European partners. Backers argue these co-production arrangements both strengthen Ukraine’s defensive depth and boost allied industrial bases through joint work and technology sharing.
