The Norwegian Army has taken delivery of its first Valkyrie drone swarm from Six Robotics, marking a significant milestone in Norway’s push toward autonomous warfare capabilities. Alongside the delivery, the company has begun training and onboarding programs to equip future army operators with the skills needed to deploy and manage the new drone systems effectively.
Developed in collaboration with the Norwegian Defence Research Establishment (FFI), the Valkyrie swarm represents a next-generation autonomous aerial system capable of conducting coordinated surveillance, reconnaissance, and tactical missions. Six Robotics described the system as a product still under development, with additional drone units expected to be delivered to the army in the coming months as part of an incremental rollout.
Following induction, the Valkyrie drones will undergo operational testing within the army’s maneuver units and at the Army Weapons School. These trials are intended to evaluate swarm coordination, communication systems, and battlefield performance in complex environments.
Feedback gathered from soldiers during these field tests will be used to refine and upgrade the Valkyrie platform, ensuring that future versions align with Norway’s operational requirements. The delivery reinforces Norway’s commitment to integrating autonomous and AI-driven technologies into its defense modernization programs.
