Red Cat Holdings has confirmed that an undisclosed military customer in the Asia-Pacific region has selected its Black Widow small unmanned aircraft system for tactical operations. The company said deliveries of an unspecified number of systems are scheduled to take place within the current year, marking another international milestone for the platform.
Each Black Widow system package includes two unmanned aircraft, a ground control station, and additional mission-specific equipment tailored to operational requirements. According to Red Cat, this order represents the second recent military procurement of the Black Widow by an Asia-Pacific customer, highlighting growing regional demand for compact and rapidly deployable ISR solutions.
The Black Widow is designed to support tactical intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance missions in challenging environments. It features a compact and rugged airframe optimized for military use, combined with a secure communications architecture that enables reliable data transmission in contested operating conditions.
Weighing approximately 1.93 kilograms in its standard configuration, the Black Widow can reach speeds of up to 47 kilometers per hour. The system offers an endurance exceeding 50 minutes and an operational range of around 8 kilometers, supporting short- to medium-range ISR tasks. For enhanced situational awareness, the drone can be equipped with Reveal Farsight 3D mapping software, enabling real-time three-dimensional terrain mapping, target identification, tracking, and classification during flight.
