The Joint Interagency Task Force 401 and the US Federal Aviation Administration recently conducted tests involving a high-energy laser system designed for counter-drone operations. The experiments were carried out at the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico to evaluate how directed-energy systems could operate safely within US airspace. Researchers collected data on the effects of laser beams on structures that simulate aircraft components while also examining automated safety mechanisms that can shut down the system in hazardous conditions.
