Windracers has announced a major capability upgrade for its ULTRA unmanned aircraft, enabling the drone to carry payloads of up to 200 kilograms over distances exceeding 2,000 kilometers. The enhanced heavy-lift performance is expected to become available within the next few months, significantly expanding the platform’s role in both defense and civilian logistics missions.
The upgraded capability was revealed during the company’s LAUNCH 2026 event in London, where Windracers highlighted the ULTRA’s existing performance, which already allows it to fly more than 2,000 kilometers carrying payloads above 100 kilograms. The fixed-wing, dual-use UAV is currently operational in several countries, supporting a range of military and commercial applications.
In the defense domain, the ULTRA has been deployed in Ukraine since 2023, where it has supported intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) as well as resupply operations under the UK’s military assistance framework. The aircraft’s ability to operate in challenging environments has made it suitable for contested and remote areas.
With an endurance of up to 10 hours, standard fuel propulsion, and a rugged airframe designed for all-weather operations, the ULTRA is also being tested for civilian cargo delivery. Windracers confirmed that the platform is attracting interest in remote logistics markets, including Alaska and Africa, where reliable long-range unmanned cargo transport remains a critical requirement.
