Australia revealed this week it will purchase $4.7 billion worth of American-made SM-2 and SM-6 missiles—two of the world’s top air defense interceptors—in a major foreign military sale. The agreement was finalized by both governments this spring. As part of the plan, Australia also committed to doubling its major warships and strengthening its domestic defense industry.
