Belgium will install a National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile System battery at the Port of Antwerp beginning in 2027 to protect critical industrial and logistics infrastructure. The medium-range system integrates search radar, launch units, and a fire control center to provide layered air defense coverage against aircraft and cruise missile threats. The first battery is expected to secure nearly two-thirds of the port area. Authorities have also ordered supplementary counter-drone systems to address unauthorized unmanned aerial incursions near sensitive facilities such as chemical plants and nuclear installations.
