The U.S. State Department has approved a potential $8.5 billion Foreign Military Sale to Denmark for Integrated Battle Command System (IBCS)-enabled Patriot PAC-3 MSE air defense systems. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) has notified Congress, moving the deal closer to execution.

Under the request, Denmark seeks to acquire 36 Patriot GEM-T surface-to-air missiles, capable of countering aircraft, cruise missiles, and select ballistic threats. The package also includes 20 PAC-3 MSE interceptors, designed for high-speed engagements against advanced ballistic missiles and emerging hypersonic threats.

The deal further provides Denmark with two AN/MPQ-65 radar sets, two Engagement Control Stations, six Patriot launchers, IBCS fire control relays, collaborative operations centers, and supporting power units. These assets will deliver one of the most advanced land-based air and missile defense capabilities available.

To guarantee operational readiness, the agreement also covers communications systems, GPS devices, encryption equipment, identification friend-or-foe modules, training simulators, technical manuals, spare parts, and full logistical and field support.
