India’s Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has successfully conducted the first flight test of its Integrated Air Defence Weapon System (IADWS). This indigenous system is designed as a comprehensive shield, combining traditional missiles with a directed-energy laser.

The IADWS is structured as a multi-layered defense network, linking together quick reaction surface-to-air missiles with very short-range interceptors, enabling protection against a variety of aerial threats.

A standout feature of the system is its high-energy laser weapon, which provides the ability to engage small, fast-moving, and low-flying targets almost instantly. This marks a significant leap in India’s air defense capabilities.

By integrating missile technology and laser-based interception, DRDO has created a modern solution capable of responding rapidly to emerging battlefield threats, setting a new milestone in India’s defense innovation.
