L3Harris Technologies has secured a follow-on contract valued at up to $200 million to manufacture additional solid rocket motors for Lockheed Martin’s Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System (GMLRS) Insensitive Munition (IM). The award reflects continued demand from the U.S. Army and allied forces for precision-guided artillery munitions.

The contract represents the first production order to be executed at L3Harris’ newly constructed Camden, Arkansas facility, which was developed with support from a Defense Production Act Title III cooperative agreement. The site, combined with upgraded manufacturing lines, is designed to address rising global requirements by delivering rockets at scale and on schedule.

According to the company, the expansion increases L3Harris’ annual solid rocket motor production capacity by more than 30 percent, while inert component manufacturing will remain at its Advanced Manufacturing Facility–South in Huntsville, Alabama. The dual-site approach strengthens supply chain resilience and throughput for GMLRS production.

The GMLRS IM is a GPS-guided artillery rocket featuring a reduced explosive hazard warhead, improving safety during storage and transportation while maintaining precision strike performance. L3Harris, a long-standing propulsion partner for Lockheed Martin, has steadily expanded output through advanced manufacturing techniques and previously increased GMLRS motor production by nearly 80 percent, with this award marking the largest 12-month GMLRS IM contract the company has received to date.
