Russia has deployed modified Iskander-M missiles against Ukraine, designed to be harder to intercept by systems like the U.S.-supplied Patriot. According to Ukrainian Air Force spokesman Yurii Ihnat, six out of nine missiles aimed at Kyiv—including Iskander and North Korean KN-23 variants—were shot down. He noted that the upgraded missiles use radar decoys and semi-ballistic trajectories to evade defenses. Despite these challenges, Ihnat emphasized that successful interception remains possible and said Ukraine’s allies are working to strengthen air defense systems.
