South Korea has awarded a 3.4-billion-won (approximately $24 million) contract to domestic defense company LIG Nex1 for the development of a counter-ballistic missile simulation system. The project, scheduled for completion by 2028, aims to strengthen the nation’s missile defense readiness.
The simulation model will replicate various types of ballistic missile threats and provide a comprehensive virtual training platform. Using advanced computer-based modeling, it will simulate the full operational sequence—from detecting missile launches to interception, strike, and damage assessment.
This system is expected to enhance South Korea’s defense capabilities under its Three-Axis strategy, which includes preemptive strike, missile defense, and retaliation measures against threats from North Korea. The initiative will also support the growth and technological advancement of the domestic defense sector.
