Roke, a subsidiary of Chemring Group, has been awarded a £251-million ($333 million) contract by the UK Ministry of Defence to coordinate an array of missile defense research and development programs. The initiative involves multidisciplinary teams working under the UK Missile Defence Centre (MDC), with a primary goal of countering emerging threats, including ballistic and hypersonic missiles.

The contract structure ensures that over 95% of its value supports a homegrown UK workforce, encouraging local scientific innovation and long-term self-reliance in cutting-edge missile defense systems. Work includes not only technical research but also broad industry collaboration and integration of new technologies into future British and allied missile shield architectures.
