The United States announced on Thursday the approval of an $825 million arms deal for Ukraine, involving the transfer of 3,350 Extended Range Attack Munition (ERAM) air-launched missiles along with related support equipment.
According to the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA), Kyiv will finance the purchase with the backing of Denmark, the Netherlands, and Norway, supplemented by a U.S. loan guarantee. The package is part of ongoing international efforts to strengthen Ukraine’s defense posture.
In its statement, the DSCA said the proposed deal will bolster Ukraine’s ability to counter current and future threats by enhancing its self-defense capabilities and supporting regional security missions. The agency further stressed that the sale aligns with U.S. foreign policy and national security goals, ensuring stability and progress in Europe.
The State Department has approved the potential transfer, while the DSCA has formally notified Congress. Final authorization of the deal now rests with lawmakers, who must give their consent before the transaction moves forward.
