The US Air Force has introduced the AEDC Velocity Alliance, a collaborative framework intended to accelerate improvements to aerospace testing infrastructure. Established by the Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC) and the Air Force Test Center, the initiative creates a network of pre-qualified organizations capable of supporting infrastructure projects as new requirements emerge. Participation in the alliance requires organizations to meet technical, cybersecurity, and operational standards. Members may include large defense companies, small businesses, nonprofit organizations, and research institutions. The framework is designed to support projects involving construction, engineering systems, fire protection, maintenance, and specialized equipment upgrades. Modern testing facilities are increasingly important as military technologies become more advanced. Hypersonic weapons, next-generation propulsion systems, and sophisticated sensors require highly specialized environments to simulate operational conditions. Upgrading these facilities will help ensure that future systems can be evaluated effectively before entering service. The Air Force expects flexible contracting methods to reduce procurement timelines and improve efficiency. AEDC estimates that the alliance could eventually support a multibillion-dollar portfolio dedicated to maintaining and modernizing aerospace testing infrastructure.
