The US Army has awarded Elbit Systems a $212-million delivery order to continue production of Enhanced Night Vision Goggle-Binocular systems through 2028. The ENVG-B combines thermal imaging, image intensification, augmented reality overlays, and passive targeting into a single wearable battlefield system designed to improve soldier situational awareness in low-visibility environments. The technology enables troops to detect and engage targets in darkness, adverse weather, and difficult terrain while maintaining operational effectiveness without active illumination. Unlike previous procurement cycles involving multiple vendors, Elbit Systems of America was selected as the sole prime contractor for this order. The award forms part of broader US military efforts to modernize soldier visualization, targeting, and battlefield awareness technologies through next-generation optics and integrated digital systems.
