Germany has awarded Rheinmetall a €1.04 billion contract to expand its Infantry Soldier of the Future – Enhanced System (IdZ-ES). The program includes 237 platoon systems and upgrades for existing units, benefiting around 8,600 troops. Each platoon system integrates 35 soldier kits equipped with communication, navigation, and combat gear linked through a centralized command network. The system enhances connectivity between infantry, armored vehicles like Boxer and Puma, and future aerial assets. Deliveries are scheduled from 2027 to 2029 under a broader €3.1 billion framework.
