The UK government is introducing procurement reforms aimed at improving efficiency and accountability in defense contracts. Under the proposed changes to the Single Source Contract Regulations, defense companies could receive higher profits for delivering projects on time while underperforming contractors would face reduced returns. Incentive payments could rise to 10 percent of contract costs for companies demonstrating strong performance, productivity, or risk management. The reforms also seek to support smaller defense firms through reduced compliance requirements and new innovation incentives for companies investing in advanced technologies without guaranteed government contracts. Officials believe the changes will strengthen competition, encourage innovation, and improve the overall effectiveness of UK defense procurement programs.
