India has unveiled its “Defence Forces Vision 2047” roadmap, outlining long-term military reforms aimed at transforming the country’s armed forces into a more integrated and technologically advanced fighting force. The strategy emphasizes joint operations among the army, navy, and air force while focusing on modern technologies, indigenous defense production, and institutional restructuring. The roadmap aligns with India’s broader Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, which seeks to expand domestic manufacturing and reduce dependence on foreign suppliers. Backed by a defense budget exceeding $81 billion, the reforms also support investments in drones, advanced weapons, digital infrastructure, and research programs.
