Exercise Tarang Shakti 2026 has provided an international platform for demonstrating India’s growing military aviation capabilities. The TEJAS Light Combat Aircraft and Prachand Light Combat Helicopter performed aerial displays alongside some of the world’s most advanced military aircraft. Conducted from 26 September to 12 October 2026, the multinational exercise follows the theme “Power in Partnership,” reflecting its focus on coordinated training, shared expertise and stronger operational interoperability. The participation of these indigenous platforms highlights advances in India’s aerospace manufacturing sector. The US F-35 Lightning II was among the foreign aircraft involved, alongside platforms from participating international air forces. Australia, the United States, the UAE, France, Germany, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh were represented, with additional countries participating as observers. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh attended the event and cited TEJAS, Dhruv, Rudra, Prachand, the Light Utility Helicopter and Akash air defence system as important elements of India’s domestic defence ecosystem. A joint formation flight involving aircraft and aircrew from participating nations further illustrated professional cooperation. Following its first edition in 2024, the exercise continues to improve coordination through combined missions, training activities and the exchange of operational experience. The wider aircraft line-up includes the F-35, Rafale, F-16, A400M, MRTT, C-130, C-130J and KC-30A, creating a diverse multinational training environment. Seminars, industrial visits and cultural engagements are also included to build professional relationships. Squadron Gautam Tyagi of the Sarang display team described the opportunity to participate as an honour, noting that the exercise enables aviators to exchange knowledge and build mutual trust. Overall, Tarang Shakti highlights the capabilities of Indian-designed aircraft and helicopters while strengthening international defence partnerships and operational cooperation.
