India’s next-generation fighter engine initiative represents a major step toward self-reliance in aerospace propulsion. Developed to power the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft, the engine is being designed with scalability in mind, enabling future upgrades that can generate substantially greater thrust for advanced combat aircraft. The project aims to deliver high performance, fuel efficiency, and compatibility with stealth aircraft while reducing long-term dependence on imported engines. The technological knowledge gained through this effort is expected to support future fighter programs, strengthen domestic aerospace manufacturing, and accelerate the development of indigenous propulsion ecosystems.
