India’s Netra MkII program is progressing toward becoming the backbone of the nation’s airborne surveillance and command network. Built on the Airbus A321 platform, the system will provide significantly greater mission endurance, radar coverage, and onboard processing capability than previous AEW&C aircraft. Equipped with advanced indigenous radar technology, electronic intelligence systems, and secure communication networks, the platform is designed to detect, track, and manage multiple airborne threats across vast operational areas. The aircraft will serve not only as a surveillance asset but also as an airborne battle management center capable of coordinating air operations, improving situational awareness, and supporting integrated air defense missions. The program highlights India’s commitment to developing strategic aerospace capabilities through indigenous innovation and industrial collaboration.
