Astra Microwave Products Limited has completed a major phase in the development of an indigenous naval radar system by delivering its Active Antenna Array Unit (AAAU) technology demonstrator to the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). The transfer represents a key achievement in the company’s long-term efforts to develop advanced radar solutions for maritime and land-based defence requirements. The radar system is engineered to provide enhanced surveillance capabilities through long-range detection, accurate target tracking, and improved engagement support against airborne and surface threats. Designed for integration with future naval platforms, the system is expected to enhance the Indian Navy’s operational capabilities by strengthening early warning networks, multi-target tracking performance, and combat decision-making processes. The radar will now undergo extensive evaluation procedures, including system validation, integration trials, and performance assessments before entering the next stage of deployment. The successful completion of this milestone demonstrates Astra Microwave’s growing expertise in high-performance AESA radar technology and reinforces its contribution toward strengthening India’s indigenous defence electronics ecosystem.
