HENSOLDT UK has secured two contracts with SRT Marine Systems to supply 50 coastal surveillance radar systems, reinforcing maritime monitoring capabilities. These systems are built on the Coherent Shore-Based Sensor architecture, designed for continuous operation in complex coastal environments characterized by high traffic density, unpredictable weather, and sea clutter. At the core of these systems is the SharpEye radar technology, a solid-state transceiver offering enhanced reliability and lower maintenance compared to traditional mechanically scanned radars. SharpEye enables long-range detection and is particularly effective in identifying small or low radar cross-section targets, such as fast-moving boats. This capability significantly enhances maritime domain awareness, supporting national security and safe navigation. The deployment aligns with global trends emphasizing improved coastal surveillance infrastructure. SharpEye systems have already been implemented in various regions, including the UK and Southeast Asia, where they support monitoring of territorial waters and shipping routes. The integration of such advanced radar technology underscores the growing importance of real-time data and precision tracking in maritime operations.
