India is developing advanced radar systems to detect hypersonic missiles traveling at speeds above Mach 5. A major challenge lies in the plasma layer generated around such missiles due to extreme heat and air compression, which interferes with conventional radar signals. The new radar aims to overcome these limitations by improving tracking accuracy and detection capabilities. This development is part of India’s broader effort to strengthen its air defence systems against next-generation high-speed threats and maintain strategic security in an evolving threat environment.
