Saab Wins $131M Contract to Develop New Gripen Flight-Control Computer — Saab has received an order worth 1.3 billion Swedish kronor, approximately $131 million, from Sweden’s Defence Materiel Administration to develop a new flight-control computer for the Gripen fighter. Deliveries are planned for 2030. The computer manages aircraft movements and supports safe, accurate manoeuvring, while the replacement system is intended to meet future performance, availability and component-supply requirements. The contract forms part of broader efforts to sustain Sweden’s national fighter expertise. Saab and GKN Aerospace have also agreed to expand cooperation on Gripen E/F engine engineering and technical support. Separately, Sweden previously awarded Saab a four-billion-kronor maintenance and support extension covering spare parts, repairs, software upkeep, mission-system updates and personnel training through 2027, with options extending to 2029.
