Lockheed Martin is advancing its defense technologies by employing artificial intelligence to enhance both targeting accuracy and the speed of threat detection.
As part of this initiative, the company tested a cutting-edge Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) system powered by AI, which can autonomously and precisely identify maritime targets without human intervention.
The testing took place off the West Coast of the United States, where experts from Lockheed’s AI Center, Skunk Works, and Rotary and Mission Systems divisions successfully demonstrated the radar’s near-instantaneous ability to locate and classify objects at sea. The breakthrough showcases Lockheed Martin’s commitment to integrating AI for faster, smarter decision-making in defense operations.
