BAE Systems has secured a new contract with the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration to deliver additional BONUS precision-guided munitions to the Swedish Armed Forces.
The agreement is valued at approximately $62 million (SEK 600 million).
This latest deal further strengthens the longstanding collaboration between BAE Systems Bofors and the Swedish Armed Forces, highlighting their mutual focus on providing advanced defense capabilities. The BONUS system significantly extends the reach of 155 mm artillery, offering precision strikes against enemy combat vehicles such as armored personnel carriers, self-propelled guns, infantry fighting vehicles, and main battle tanks.
BONUS is a fire-and-forget munition featuring two sensor-fuzed submunitions that autonomously detect and engage armored targets across an area of up to 32,000 square meters. It can achieve a maximum range of 35 kilometers when fired from a NATO L52 artillery gun and is highly effective against moving targets. Its compatibility with advanced systems like the BAE Systems ARCHER further enhances its battlefield value.
Jointly developed with Nexter Systems, BONUS is already in service with armed forces in Finland, France, Norway, Sweden, and the United States, demonstrating its proven performance and adaptability.
