QinetiQ has secured an £18-million contract from the UK’s National Armaments Director Group to test and evaluate the British Army’s new RCH155 artillery system. The assessment will cover ammunition safety, barrel wear, and environmental performance under extreme conditions. Testing will be carried out at facilities operated under the UK Ministry of Defence’s Long Term Partnering Agreement. The RCH155, developed through UK-Germany cooperation by KNDS, combines a remotely operated 155mm artillery gun with the Boxer armored vehicle platform. Capable of striking targets at ranges up to 70 kilometers, the highly mobile system is expected to become the British Army’s future close-support artillery backbone.
