DRDO Develops Lightweight Missile for Future UAVs DRDO is developing a compact, low-cost air-to-ground missile for India’s future unmanned aerial platforms, including MALE, HALE, and UCAV systems. The missile is expected to weigh between 10–15 kg with a 1–2 kg warhead and feature INS guidance integrated with anti-spoofing SAASM technology. Although such a lightweight design is unlikely to penetrate 700 mm of armour, it is expected to be highly effective against softer targets such as artillery positions, radar systems, logistics vehicles, bunkers, and command posts. Its lightweight construction enables UAVs to carry multiple missiles during a single mission, increasing strike flexibility.
