Exail has been chosen by Naval Group to deliver an advanced suite of navigation technologies for the Hellenic Navy’s cutting-edge FDI-class frigates, signaling a key step in equipping Greece’s future naval fleet with resilient and interoperable systems.

The technology package includes the Marins Inertial Navigation System (INS) for high-accuracy positioning without reliance on GPS, the Netans Data Distribution Unit (DDU) for secure and synchronized data sharing, and the Gecdis-W WECDIS, a tactical electronic chart display fully aligned with updated NATO STANAG standards.

These components will be deeply integrated into the FDI frigates’ cyber-resilient digital command architecture, allowing the vessels to operate securely even in environments where navigation systems might be targeted or GPS signals jammed.

Designed for a full spectrum of naval missions—ranging from air defense and submarine tracking to surface combat and special operations support—the FDI-class ships are among the most advanced in Europe. Exail’s systems provide a foundational layer of navigation reliability and cyber defense, reinforcing the frigates’ ability to perform in high-threat, contested waters.

This collaboration reflects a broader push toward digitally secure, multi-domain naval operations, with an emphasis on integration, autonomy, and resilience against evolving maritime threats.
