Data Patterns has introduced the Hawk-1900, a compact indigenous GaN-based AESA radar designed to improve the combat capabilities of existing fighter aircraft platforms. Featuring approximately 876 Transmit/Receive Modules, the radar has been developed for integration with aircraft such as the MiG-29 series and LCA Tejas variants. The system provides a potential upgrade solution for legacy fighter fleets by replacing older radar technologies with a modern electronically scanned architecture. The Hawk-1900 is designed to deliver improved detection capability, simultaneous tracking of multiple targets, enhanced electronic counter-countermeasure performance, and greater operational flexibility. Its GaN-based transmitter technology provides advantages in efficiency, thermal management, and overall radar performance. The radar’s multi-role capability allows it to support air-to-air engagements, precision air-to-ground operations, and advanced battlefield awareness missions. The development represents an important step in establishing India as a producer of advanced airborne radar systems while reducing dependence on imported technologies for fighter modernisation programmes.
