L3Harris Technologies has secured an Australian contract to provide command, control, communications, computers and intelligence (C4I) systems for the Australian Army’s Bushmaster protected mobility vehicles. Awarded under Project Land 4111 Phase 2, the agreement covers the design, integration, installation and testing of communications equipment for more than 80 command and troop carrier variants. The proposed package is intended to give military personnel secure, interoperable communications. Potential equipment includes L3Harris’ AN/PRC-171 compact team radio, MC-3000I mobile command intercom system and Falcon III RF-7800H-MP wideband HF/VHF manpack radio. Reports also indicate that government-furnished radios subject to US export controls will be incorporated into the solution.Work will be conducted at L3Harris’ Indo-Pacific Regional Support Centre in Pinkenba, Queensland, with associated activities scheduled over three years. The Australian-led engineering effort is also expected to support local employment and expand apprenticeship opportunities. The contract builds on previous Bushmaster integration work under Project Land 4111, which seeks to standardize Australia’s ground vehicle fleet while improving lethality and survivability. The wider program also includes upgrades to Hawkei light utility vehicles, procurement of more than 200 new Bushmasters, maintenance support for the existing fleet of 1,000 legacy vehicles and acquisition of 1,100 new Hawkeis.
