INEOS Automotive has received its first orders for military versions of the Grenadier 4×4, with the Italian Army and the Austrian government becoming its initial customers. Italy is the first NATO member to select the vehicle, and deliveries are expected to start in early 2027.Austria has ordered enhanced-protection variants for its defense and interior security forces. Local specialist Valentin Tusch will undertake the armoring and conversion work, with initial deliveries and trials planned to begin by the end of this year.INEOS said the Grenadier was chosen for its versatility, ease of maintenance and durable axles, which are suited to heavy loads and difficult terrain. The company has not disclosed further procurement details and said discussions with other European and NATO military customers are at an advanced stage.The Team Grenadier consortium, which includes SMT Defence and NMS UK, has also entered trials for the UK Ministry of Defence’s Light Mobility Vehicle program.INEOS has developed an Enhanced Protection Vehicle (EPV) based on the Grenadier platform. This armored version is designed to protect personnel against bullets, shell fragments and blast effects. It features an integrated armored cabin reportedly meeting NATO STANAG Level 2 protection requirements. Images show a fully enclosed body, a snorkel and a front-mounted recovery winch. INEOS is presenting the EPV as a possible replacement for Land Rover and Pinzgauer vehicles under the UK military’s Light Mobility Vehicle program.
