India’s Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) is advancing the extended-range Guided Pinaka rocket system, targeting a range exceeding 120 kilometers. Fabrication is slated to begin by mid-2025, with initial trials scheduled for October 2025. The program has been accelerated at the Indian Army’s request to enhance its precision strike capabilities. The new system builds on the success of the current Guided Pinaka—ranging between 75–90 km—which improved upon the original unguided version through the addition of INS and GPS for increased targeting accuracy and reduced collateral damage.
