Northrop Grumman has expanded its counter-drone portfolio with the launch of AiON, a next-generation counter-unmanned aerial system (C-UAS) designed to detect, track, and defeat aerial threats before they can escalate into larger security risks. The solution reflects growing demand for adaptable defenses against increasingly sophisticated drone activity.

AiON integrates artificial intelligence with a modular, open architecture that allows operators to tailor the system to specific mission requirements. Designed for use across defense, homeland security, and public safety environments, the system supports a wide range of sensors and effectors, enabling flexible deployment in both fixed and mobile configurations.

The platform features an intuitive user interface enhanced by AI-driven decision aids, helping operators rapidly identify potential threats and assess response options. By reducing cognitive workload and speeding up reaction times, AiON improves situational awareness and operational effectiveness in complex airspace environments.

Northrop Grumman said the new system is intended to complement existing counter-UAS capabilities while providing a scalable solution that can evolve alongside emerging drone threats. The introduction of AiON underscores the company’s focus on leveraging autonomy and digital technologies to strengthen layered air defense strategies.
