Hanwha Defense USA has proposed the K9 mobile howitzer as a candidate for the US Army Mobile Tactical Cannon (MTC) program, which aims to replace the aging M777 towed artillery system. The K9 platform, widely deployed globally, integrates advanced fire control, munitions handling, and command systems. Hanwha’s approach includes a localization strategy to establish domestic production capacity in the United States, particularly in Alabama. This initiative involves infrastructure development, workforce expansion, and supplier network growth to ensure scalability during high-demand scenarios. The proposal aligns with broader objectives of strengthening industrial resilience and enhancing artillery modernization.
