The US Army has awarded Mistral a $20 million contract to deliver Thor mini unmanned aerial systems, developed in collaboration with Elbit Systems subsidiary Fuse. The Group 2 UAV features vertical takeoff capability, rapid deployment within two minutes, and up to 70 minutes of autonomous flight. It can carry payloads of up to 10 kg and supports missions such as surveillance, target acquisition, communications relay, electronic warfare, and resupply. Its modular design allows quick adaptation for different operational needs, while autonomous features reduce operator workload. This procurement highlights the growing importance of flexible, tactical drone systems in modern warfare.
