DRDO Advances Portable Electronic Intelligence System for Battlefield Threat Detection — India’s Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) is developing a man-portable Electronic Intelligence (ELINT) system to detect, identify and analyse emissions from hostile radars, drones and other electronic transmitters. The Hyderabad-based Defence Electronics Research Laboratory (DLRL) is pursuing the project through a tender. Designed for frontline troops operating in mountainous and remote regions, the system will monitor multiple frequency bands and identify electronic signatures using parameters such as frequency, pulse width, signal strength and transmission patterns. Digital processing and machine learning will help separate overlapping signals and classify radar types. The equipment is also expected to estimate transmitter locations and support electronic warfare and counter-drone operations.
