Lockheed Martin has signed a deal with the US Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) to develop a prototype quantum inertial navigation system named QuINS. This system uses advanced quantum sensors to detect motion and determine a platform’s position, velocity, and orientation—without relying on GPS. Lockheed will collaborate with technology firms Q-CTRL and AOSense to build the system.
