Safran Electronics & Defense, a leader in advanced defence technologies, and Babcock International Group have announced plans to deepen their collaboration across multi-domain mission systems, aircraft engines, space technologies, and tactical and strategic communications.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), signed at the Paris Air Show, aims to unite the exceptional expertise of Safran and Babcock to provide innovative, competitive solutions for defence markets in the UK, France, and worldwide.
Building on a long-established partnership between these prominent defence companies—whose portfolios range from submarines to satellites—the agreement focuses on jointly advancing major land, naval, and air defence programmes while accelerating the adoption of emerging technologies.
The MOU also reinforces the shared defence goals of the UK and France under the Lancaster House Treaties, demonstrating a mutual commitment to enhancing European security and establishing a resilient, sovereign industrial base to address future defence challenges.
Collaboration will encompass joint research and development efforts, sharing best practices in engineering, manufacturing, and support, as well as strengthening supply chain resilience to safeguard sovereignty and secure supply. Both companies remain dedicated to supporting government policies that foster economic growth and high-value job creation in both countries.
Through this enhanced partnership, Safran and Babcock reaffirm their commitment to strengthening Franco-British cooperation in support of national security, economic prosperity, and European defence leadership.
