BAE Systems has initiated development on the “Scorpio-XR,” a next-generation, long-range precision weapon under the company’s Hypervelocity Projectile (HVP) initiative. The Scorpio-XR leverages advances in materials, propulsion, and guidance to achieve hypersonic speeds while maintaining extreme accuracy at extended ranges.
Intended for both land and maritime applications, the munition’s design is centered around delivering rapid, decisive effects on high-value targets. The HVP platform also promises to reduce logistics burdens and increase engagement versatility by enabling use from different gun systems, supporting evolving operational doctrines.
