Neros Technologies has been named one of the three main suppliers selected by the US Army for its Purpose-Built Attritable Systems (PBAS) program, a major initiative to equip platoon-level units with mission-ready unmanned aerial systems (UAS). The move positions the California-based drone developer as a key partner in advancing the Army’s small-unit drone capabilities.

Under the new agreement, Neros will deliver its Archer tactical drones in 5-inch and 10-inch variants, expanding on its existing 8-inch model. Designed for modular use, the Archer UAS can carry anti-armor and anti-personnel payloads and engage targets at ranges beyond 20 kilometers (12 miles). Non-strike versions can be fitted with customizable sensor packages for surveillance, reconnaissance, and intelligence missions.

The company will also supply its Flatbow control system, a portable enhancement to the existing Crossbow Ground Control System, optimized for electronic warfare environments. Flatbow enables operators to maintain reliable command and data links even in GPS- or signal-denied areas, giving US soldiers greater tactical resilience on the battlefield.

Neros’ PBAS selection follows over two years of joint testing and system development with both US and Ukrainian military partners. Founded in 2023, the company recently completed a $75-million funding round led by Sequoia Capital, bringing total investments to over $120 million. The new capital will accelerate Archer and Flatbow production, strengthen a China-free domestic supply chain, and support future research into autonomous UAS architectures.
