Raytheon has secured its largest-ever order for the SharpSight surveillance radar system through an agreement with Blue Raven, covering 120 radar units along with production and sustainment support. Blue Raven, formerly Crestwood Technology Group, will oversee global distribution and resale operations for the radar. SharpSight is a software-defined, multi-domain surveillance radar derived from Raytheon’s HISAR and SeaVue radar families and is optimized for both crewed and uncrewed airborne platforms. Designed with an open-architecture and modular framework, the radar supports rapid upgrades and integration across multiple aircraft types. The system can simultaneously detect, track, and classify more than 1,000 targets by combining radar processing with automatic identification system (AIS) data. Integrated on platforms such as the MQ-9B SeaGuardian, SharpSight supports missions including maritime surveillance, border security, anti-surface warfare, anti-piracy operations, economic exclusion zone enforcement, environmental monitoring, and search-and-rescue missions. Its long-range small-target detection capability allows operators to maintain wide-area situational awareness while operating from safer stand-off distances and higher altitudes in contested environments.
