The US Army has issued a request for information (RFI) for a new Unmanned Ground Commercial Robotic Vehicle (UGCRV) prototype aimed at bolstering the capabilities of Armored Brigade Combat Teams (ABCTs). The project reflects the service’s growing interest in robotic platforms for battlefield logistics and support roles.

According to requirements, the UGCRV must be able to carry over 2,200 pounds (998 kilograms) and operate across both paved roads and rugged terrain. It must also maintain pace with dismounted troops, providing flexible mobility in diverse combat environments.

The vehicle is expected to feature dual operational modes—remote control by operators and autonomous performance for tasks such as troop following, area security, and waypoint navigation. Importantly, any additional hardware needed for these functions should not compromise mission effectiveness.

The effort will be administered by the Army Contracting Command – Detroit Arsenal in partnership with the National Advanced Mobility Consortium. With a cost cap of $650,000 per unit, responses from interested firms are due by the end of the month.
