The Polish Armed Forces has signed a new contract with domestic defense manufacturer WB Group to procure additional FlyEye mini uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs). The latest deal includes not only the delivery of drones but also repair, logistics, and training services, with all units expected to be delivered by the end of 2025.

This purchase builds upon a framework agreement from September 2023, covering up to 1,600 FlyEye drones (or 400 full system sets) as part of Poland’s broader plan to strengthen its tactical reconnaissance capabilities. Earlier procurement rounds included seven FlyEye units in April 2024 and 52 more in November 2024, reflecting the growing trust in WB Group’s indigenous drone technology.

The FlyEye UAV, developed and produced entirely in Poland, is a modular, hand-launched reconnaissance system designed for rapid deployment in both open and urban environments. It can be assembled and launched in under 10 minutes, giving troops on the ground a fast intelligence-gathering tool. Its multi-sensor payload—featuring visible-light and infrared cameras—enables operators to switch seamlessly between day and night surveillance. The platform can also be fitted with light precision munitions or an acoustic detector to locate enemy gunfire.

The drone features a 3.6-meter wingspan and 1.8-meter length, cruising at 60–120 km/h and reaching altitudes up to 3,000 meters. Its electric propulsion and lithium-polymer batteries deliver over 2.5 hours of endurance and a 180-kilometer communication range. A parachute-assisted landing system ensures safe recovery within a 10-meter radius, while dual control stations and anti-spin and anti-icing systems enhance operational safety. The FlyEye is also used by the Polish Border Guard and international forces, including those of Malaysia and Ukraine.
