BAE Systems has secured a $195 million US Marine Corps contract to produce an additional 30 ACV-30 Amphibious Combat Vehicles, further expanding the service’s next-generation amphibious capabilities.
The contract brings the total number of ACV-30 vehicles ordered to over 150, reinforcing the Marine Corps’ commitment to replacing its legacy amphibious fleet. The ACV-30 is equipped with a 30mm cannon turret, providing enhanced lethality and extended engagement ranges while maintaining amphibious and land combat functionality.
Production will be conducted in Pennsylvania and South Carolina, with turret integration handled by Kongsberg.
The ACV family is designed to support the Marine Corps’ evolving operational doctrine by delivering increased protection, mobility, and adaptability across distributed battlefield environments. In addition to the ACV-30, BAE is supplying personnel carrier and command-and-control variants, along with recovery and maintenance platforms.
The US military has maintained consistent investment in amphibious vehicle modernization. In 2023, funding was allocated to continue low-rate initial production of ACV variants. By 2024, the vehicles were deployed to frontline Marine Expeditionary Units, representing the first major modernization of the Marine Corps’ amphibious fleet since the Cold War era.
