Rheinmetall has received a contract from Germany to deliver 23 Bergepanzer 3 Büffel armored recovery vehicles, replenishing assets previously transferred to Ukraine. The new A2-standard platforms will enhance the Bundeswehr’s capability to recover damaged armored vehicles, conduct field repairs, and provide frontline support. Based on the Leopard 2 chassis, the Büffel combines powerful recovery systems with advanced protection features. Deliveries are scheduled between 2027 and 2029, supporting Germany’s ongoing defense modernization and force readiness initiatives.
