Australia has selected Lockheed Martin’s HIMARS and Precision Strike Missile to strengthen long-range strike capabilities. The system can engage targets up to 500 km, with future upgrades extending beyond 1,000 km. A second long-range fires regiment will be established in South Australia. The program is part of a broader $37 billion investment to enhance defence capabilities over the next decade. Australia has already received its first HIMARS units and successfully test-fired PrSM during Exercise Talisman Sabre 2025. The initiative also includes local industry integration and future manufacturing potential.
