Australia has committed AUD 1.2 billion to strengthen the Australian Defence Force ground vehicle fleet. The plan includes acquiring 268 next-generation Bushmaster Protected Mobility Vehicle from Thales Group and upgrading Hawkei Protected Mobility Vehicle and Rheinmetall trucks. Production will begin in 2027 with improved protection, mobility, and digital systems integration. The move also replenishes inventory after donations to Ukraine and supports domestic manufacturing. This investment reflects Canberra’s broader push to modernize land forces and enhance operational readiness.
